We take the privacy of everyone who visits our website seriously. This policy explains, in plain language, what information we collect, why we collect it, who sees it, how long we keep it, and what choices you have.
Who we are
Our website address is https://madinahcommonwealth.com. This website is operated by Madinah Commonwealth Foundation LLC, based in South Florida, United States. Madinah Commonwealth is a public brand of Madinah Commonwealth Foundation LLC.
For any question about this policy or your information, write to us at info@madinahcommonwealth.com.
What personal data we collect and why we collect it
We collect only what we need to run the website and to respond to the people who contact us. We do not sell personal data. Where we rely on your consent, such as when you choose to leave a comment or write to us, you can withdraw it at any time by contacting us.
Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, along with the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string. We use these to help detect spam.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see whether you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available at https://automattic.com/privacy/. After your comment is approved, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
Media
If you upload images to the website, please avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the site. Uploaded files are generally publicly accessible.
Email and contact
This website does not currently use an on-site contact form. When you email us at info@madinahcommonwealth.com, we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and whatever you choose to tell us in your message. We use this only to read and answer your message, to follow up on offers of help such as volunteering, partnership or support, and to keep a record of our correspondence. We do not use it for advertising and we do not share it outside the Foundation except as described below.
Cookies
If you leave a comment on our site, you may opt in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience, so you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies last for one year.
The following apply only to people who log in to the site, such as our administrators and authors. Visitors who only read the site do not receive them.
- If you visit our login page, we set a temporary cookie to determine whether your browser accepts cookies. It contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
- When you log in, we set several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login persists for two weeks. If you log out, the login cookies are removed.
- If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie is saved in your browser. It includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after one day.
Analytics
We do not use advertising trackers or build advertising profiles of our visitors. Our web hosting provider may keep basic server logs, such as IP addresses and page requests, for security and to keep the site running. If we later add an analytics service, we will update this policy to name it and explain how you can opt out.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content such as videos, images or articles. Embedded content from other websites behaves in the same way as if you had visited the other website.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including when you have an account and are logged in to that website.
Who we share your data with
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal data. We share it only with the service providers that help us run the website, and only as needed for that purpose:
- Web hosting provider: stores the website and its data, including comments and server logs.
- Automated spam detection: visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
- Gravatar (Automattic): receives an anonymized hash of your email address on comments, as described above.
- Email provider: handles the messages sent to and from info@madinahcommonwealth.com.
If you request a password reset, your IP address is included in the reset email. We may also disclose information when the law requires it or to protect the safety and security of our community and website.
How long we retain your data
- Comments: if you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely, so that we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
- Registered users: for users who register on our website (if any), we store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit or delete their personal information at any time, except that they cannot change their username. Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
- Email: we keep correspondence for as long as it is useful to the relationship or the work it concerns, and delete it on request unless we are required to keep it.
- Server logs: kept by our hosting provider for a short period under its own schedule.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site, have left comments, or have written to us, you can request an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also ask us to correct that data or to erase it. This does not include data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal or security purposes. To make a request, email info@madinahcommonwealth.com and we will respond within a reasonable time, and within any period the law requires.
Where your data is sent
We are based in the United States, and our website data is stored and processed there and wherever our hosting and email providers operate. Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service. If you visit from the European Union, the United Kingdom or elsewhere, your information may be transferred to and handled in the United States. We choose providers that commit to protecting personal data, and we rely on the safeguards those providers offer for international transfers, such as Standard Contractual Clauses where applicable.
Contact information
For privacy questions, requests or concerns, email info@madinahcommonwealth.com. We are not currently required to appoint a Data Protection Officer, and privacy matters are handled directly by the Foundation.
How we protect your data
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the information we hold. These include keeping the website software and plugins up to date, limiting administrative access to the people who need it, using strong passwords for accounts that can see personal data, and encrypting connections to the website with HTTPS. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
What data breach procedures we have in place
If we discover a breach that affects personal data, we will act quickly to contain it, find out what happened and which information was involved, and fix the cause. Where a breach is likely to put people at risk, we will notify the people affected and the relevant authorities without undue delay and as the law requires. Anyone who believes the security of their information has been compromised should contact us right away at the email above.
What third parties we receive data from
We do not buy personal data or receive it from advertisers or data brokers. The only information we receive about you comes from you, from your browser when you visit the site, and from the service providers named above as part of running the website.
What automated decision making and/or profiling we do with user data
We do not make decisions about people through automated means, and we do not build profiles of visitors for advertising or any other purpose. The only automated processing is spam detection on comments.
Industry regulatory disclosure requirements
Madinah Commonwealth Foundation LLC is not a member of a regulated industry that imposes additional privacy disclosure requirements on this website. If that changes, we will update this section.
